Overview

The GIS Developer will play a key role in building and supporting large-scale map-based and transport-related applications, including web and mobile platforms used by the public.

You will work on end-to-end system planning, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance, with a strong focus on spatial data, real-time traffic information and applications.

• Provide overall GIS and IT support for the planning, design, development, operation and maintenance of mobility and spatial data systems (e.g. route search, real-time traffic, parking information, map services).​
• Develop, enhance and support web and mobile applications and related online services for public-facing platforms.
• Support data integration and updates for public spatial data platforms, including public transport data, real-time traffic data, traffic news and parking vacancy data.
• Carry out system and acceptance testing on new features and enhancements to web and mobile applications, ensuring quality and performance.​
• Provide operational and customer support, including on-call technical support and occasional overtime outside normal office hours, weekends and public holidays when required.
• Assist supervisors in project coordination and vendor/contractor supervision for application updates and new module development.
• Perform other ad hoc duties related to GIS and application support as assigned.

• Solid hands-on experience in Geographic Information System (GIS) and in developing and managing IT applications.
• Experience in one of the following areas would be highly preferred:
• Java, .NET / C#
• mobile applications on iOS or Android that make use of GIS / map services​
• Strong skills in web and database technologies such as web programming, Microsoft SQL Server / SQL, HTML5 and JavaScript
• Experience with client/server application development, data administration/management/architecture and related tools will be an advantage.​
• Prior experience working on government or public sector IT projects is an advantage.
• Good communication skills and good written Chinese and English.
