Provide products from Phased Array Weather Radar System, comparison of microburst and windshear alerts issued from Terminal Doppler Weather Radar (TDWR) and X-band radar, as well as other radar/satellite data processing and programming tasks

Seconded to our clients of public sector to perform the followings: 

• Developing and maintaining the intranet webpage for systematic comparison of microburst and windshear warnings issued by operational Windshear and Turbulence Warning System, Brothers Point Terminal Doppler Weather Radar and X-band radar at Siu Ho Wan;
• Compiling windshear density map under selected weather scenarios;
• Extracting past Phased Array Weather Radar (PAWR) data for case studies and performance evaluation of the PAWR at Sha Lo Wan in detecting high-impact weather;
• Evaluating the characteristics of dual-polarisation products of the PAWR and comparing with those of the S-band radars at Tate's Cairn and Tai Mo Shan, particularly in the detection of hail and other severe weather; 
• Applications of the composite PAWR maps received from the Guangdong Meteorological Service;
• Assisting in other related research studies and analysis; and
• Installation of new PAWR data processing servers and streamlining PAWR operation.
   
  
  
   

• Degree holder in Computer Science, equivalent or above;
• Minimum 4 years post-qualification IT experience with at least 1 years of experience in similar capacity 
• Proficiency in Unix/Linux Shell script programming, C++, XML, SQL and web programming.  Experience in Python, Node.js, React JS, CSS, GIS, TensorFlow and PyTorch will be an advantage.
• A criminal record check will be required and the offer is subject to the results of the criminal record check.
